Dhauladhar - A Range for Trek Heads

Triund Trek - one of the most popular treks in Dharmashala

Mountain ranges are fascinating creations of nature. There are never enough days for an explorer to wander through the valleys, hike up the peaks, or just sit at the quiet place gazing at the panoramic view. When the day meets the night or when the starry sky fades into the morning glow of sunrise, these mountain peaks offer you a stunning picture that you will remember as long as you live.

Nestled in the lap of Dhauladhar Range, 18 km from Dharamshala is the triund hill which will leave you awestruck with the jaw-dropping views of the lofty Dhauladhar ranges on one side and the gorgeous Kangra valley on the other.

The Triund trek in Mcleodganj comprises steep but well-defined trails through the lush forests of green rhododendron and oak trees. The first 5 km of the Triund trek are simple, but the route gets steep and requires a sturdy walk. This stretch is popularly known as 22 curves because of the 22 sharp curves en route.

As you start hiking up the trekking route, you wouldn't be able to stop yourself from taking out your camera and clicking numerous pictures that would be seen by your social media connections for months to come.

Local guides claim to do the whole trek in just 50 min, but for tourists, it takes longer. Because locals are used to it, for us, every spot on the trek is new learning.

Walking in the wind

Not to reference the underrated one direction song here, but as you get near the top of the trekking point, the winds start getting heavy. They make it a wee little difficult for tourists to stay longer in the open. The cliched Himachali landscape is adorned with pine forests and rhododendron blooming fully in the summer.

Well, the splendid view during the daylight might be Pinterest's perfect aesthetic. Still, the beauty of the starry night sky is dazzling. Looking at the sky filled with myriad starry constellations will leave you amazed. The urge to leave everything behind and just set up your tent here for the rest of your life gets as strong as the winds in the valley.

Cute cafes and The Tranquility Of Triund

The towering sharpness of the peak, the overwhelming presence of the magnificent Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas, slippery glacial slopes; all feel like a beautiful painting by the hands of a clever artist. Triund hill is magical and makes your experience even more invigorating.

Remember the cafe's on the route? There is a certain charm about them. Granite slabs turned into sofa, a variety of crunchy snacks, The smell of bubbling tea, the yummylicious aroma of hot slurping maggie, and the familiar tunes coming from the local radio at the cafe. The whole trek feels more like a journey to the enlightenment of our souls than a physically exhausting trek.
